OUTCOME: Understand the effect of volcanoes in the formation of the earth's surface.

• Keep vocabulary list with definitions.
• Read and take notes on : "Crucibles of Creation: Volcanoes"(National Geographic, December 1992)
• Read Chapter 5, Topic One: "How Earth's Rocks were Formed" in the Earth Science text. Answer all Topic Questions on page 68, #'s 1-8.
• Read Chapter 13, "Plate Tectonics" in the Earth Science text. Answer all topic questions.
• Complete the Inquiry Lab in Chapter 5 A. Write up the lab using the lab section of your notebook.

Prepare to teach me the role that volcanoes played in shaping our earth. Specifically, be prepared to explain how igneous rocks were formed and how the theory of plate tectonics would explain the formation of islands.
