INDEPENDENT STUDY COURSE AGREEMENT

STUDENT _______________________________ 70014: Physical Education Core 4

I. OBJECTIVES: (What am I going to accomplish?)
In Core 3-4 students begin to analyze the skills used for effective movement and choose physical activities that they want to pursue. They will write an Individualized Fitness Plan to make fitness a life goal.

II. ACTIVITIES: (How am I going to accomplish my objectives?)

• Create a personal fitness program based on results of fitness testing and reading in Moving for Life.
• Read selected chapters from Moving for Life: chapters 2, 7, 8, 9
• Participate in activities of choice and strive for personal excellence.

III. EVALUATION: (How my objectives will be evaluated)

• Sportfolio component: maintain an organized portfolio, which contains all class work listed below.
• Skills component: performance of activities: dance, fitness training, self defense
• Oral component: a minimum of one oral presentation analyzing a fitness concept.
• Written component: a minimum of two written works in the form of journals, personal experiences, skill descriptions, fitness or wellness plans, history of sport and fitness, exercise trends.
• A minimum of two outside readings or current events related to sports, fitness, health, exercise trends.
• Technology component: a minimum of one activity that requires the use of technology.

One semester.

Weekly

VI. RESOURCES
Community education classes, Internet, print media.
Text book: Moving for Life

Grades and credits will be reported at the quarter and end of the semester.
