INDEPENDENT STUDY COURSE AGREEMENT

I. OBJECTIVES: (What am I going to accomplish?)
Elective physical education is designed to provide a wide variety of semester-long or variable credit courses responsive to student interest. Elective PE gives students the opportunity to pursue their individual goals by participating in a regularly scheduled program of physical activity and developing their abilities in activities of choice.

II. ACTIVITIES: (How am I going to accomplish my objectives?)

• Demonstrate competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
• Apply movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.
• Achieve and maintain a health enhancing level of physical fitness.
• Exhibit a physically active lifestyle
• Demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
• Understand that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.

III. EVALUATION: (How my objectives will be evaluated)

• Students will set personal goals, monitor progress, and self-evaluate within their chosen discipline.
• Students will deepen their self-directing fitness planning skills.
• Teachers may select materials that match the specific activities or foci of each student for further research and historical understanding.
