Working Well with Others Assignment I

First Things First

A person’s work skills get her through the door; her people skills keep her there.

Joyce Lain Kennedy, in her Career Book, says that "people skills" are very high on an employer’s list of desired qualities. Often when you ask employers why they let someone go, the answer is "He just didn’t fit in."

Each workplace is different, with its own rites and rituals. Be observant. Be friendly and courteous to your colleagues. It is important that you have the ability to get along with other workers and to show you are a team player.
